Google Has Buried Your Website: Find Your Page 2 Keywords With One Search Console Export and One Claude Prompt
Page 2 keywords are the searches where Google already ranks your site at position 7 to 20, and Search Console lists every one of them. Export the Queries table and paste it into Claude with the prompt below. You get the pages to fix, a new title and the missing section for each, ranked by impressions.
This is my Google Search Console export (Queries tab). My business is [what you sell, for whom].
1. Keep only queries at position 7 to 20 with over 50 impressions.
2. Drop anything that contains my brand name or misspellings of it.
3. Group the rest by the page they most likely belong to on my site. If you cannot tell, group by topic and say so.
4. For each group give me: the page, one new title under 60 characters that answers the biggest query in the group, one H2 section the page is probably missing, and the total impressions of the group.
5. Rank the groups by total impressions, highest first.
Output a table: page, new title, missing H2, impressions, the queries in the group. Then one line on which group to fix first and why. Small site, under 1,000 impressions a month? Add this line after the prompt:
Same prompt, but use "over 20 impressions" in step 1. My site is small. How Do You Export Page 2 Keywords From Search Console?
- Open Search Console, Performance, Search results. Set the date range to 3 months.
- Turn on Average position. It is the fourth card above the chart. Without it, the export has no position column and the prompt has nothing to filter on.
- Click Export, top right, then Google Sheets. The sheet opens with a Queries tab: every search you showed up for, with clicks, impressions, CTR and position.
- Select the Queries tab, copy, paste into Claude under the prompt above.
What Does Claude Give Back?
One table, one row per page. On mavek.ai's own export the first row it would flag is the one in the screenshot: "ari email", 321 impressions, position 8.9, zero clicks. Google is showing the page on the bottom of page 1 and nobody clicks because the title does not answer that search. New title, one H2 that answers it, request indexing. That is the whole method.
| Column | What to do with it |
|---|---|
| Page | The URL Claude thinks the group belongs to. Check it against the Pages tab in Search Console before you edit; click any query in Search Console and it shows you the page that ranks for it. |
| New title | Under 60 characters, written to answer the biggest query in the group. Replace your page title with it, or merge it with what you have. |
| Missing H2 | A section the page should have and does not. Add it with 100 to 200 words of real answer, not a paragraph that repeats the heading. |
| Impressions | How many times Google showed the page for those queries in the window you exported. Bigger number first. |
How Do You Fix a Page Stuck at Position 7 to 20?
- Click the query in Search Console, then the Pages tab. That is the page Google ranks for it. Use that URL even if Claude guessed a different one.
- Paste the new title. Under 60 characters, the query's words in it, in the order people type them.
- Add the H2 section with a real answer under it. 100 to 200 words. If the page already answers it somewhere in the middle, move that part up under the new heading.
- URL Inspection, Request indexing. Then leave it alone for 28 days and check the same query again.
Where Do Ahrefs and Semrush Fit?
Ahrefs Lite is $129 a month on 8 October 2026 and includes Rank Tracker for 750 keywords, updated weekly. Search Console has the position of every query your site appears for, daily, for nothing. For your own site, the export above is the better list. Where Ahrefs and Semrush earn the money is the keywords you do not rank for yet: a competitor's page 1 terms, backlinks, and difficulty scores. Keep them for that. Do not pay them to tell you what Google already told you.
To sort the same Search Console data by intent instead of position, the Search Console AI filter pulls only the comparison, pricing and local searches, the people ready to buy.
Once a page 2 post has its new title and H2, give it a week of links and visits: the post every blog post 10 times checklist turns it into a reel, a carousel, a Story, an email, three Google Business Profile posts, an X thread and a Reddit answer, all pointing back at it.
Key Takeaways
- Page 2 keywords are queries at position 7 to 20. Google already ranks you for them; the page just needs a better title and the section it is missing.
- Search Console, Performance, Average position on, Export to Google Sheets. The Queries tab is the whole dataset, up to 1,000 rows.
- The Claude prompt filters to position 7 to 20, drops brand queries, groups by page and writes the title and H2 for each group, ranked by impressions.
- Fix one group at a time: title, H2, request indexing, check after 28 days.
- Ahrefs Lite charges $129 a month for position tracking on 750 keywords. For your own site, this export is free and covers every query.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why position 7 to 20 and not position 1 to 10?
Position 1 to 6 is already working; changing a title there can cost clicks. Position 7 to 20 is the bottom of page 1 and all of page 2: Google already tested the page for the query and parked it. A better title and the missing section are usually enough to move it, because you are improving a page Google already trusts for that search rather than building a new one.
Why export instead of filtering inside Search Console?
You can filter Position greater than 7 inside the report and get the same rows. The export is faster when you want Claude to do the grouping: Search Console shows queries, not which page each query belongs to, and it will not write titles. One export, one prompt, and the grouping, the titles and the H2s come back in one table.
Search Console only exported 1,000 rows. Is that enough?
The export caps at 1,000 rows per table. For most sites that covers every query with real impressions. If yours has more, shorten the date range to 28 days, or export once with the Queries tab sorted by impressions so the thousand you get are the ones that matter.
Why drop brand queries?
Searches for your own name sit at position 1 to 3 and do not need a new title. If one of them is at position 7 to 20, something is wrong with the page that should rank for it, and that is a different fix. Keeping them in the list hides the real opportunities under rows you cannot act on.
How long before the position moves?
After you change the title, add the H2 and request indexing in URL Inspection, Google usually recrawls within days and re-evaluates within two to four weeks. Check the same query in Search Console after 28 days. If it moved from 14 to 8, do the next group. If it did not move, the page is missing more than a heading.
Does this help with ChatGPT and Perplexity too?
Not directly. This is Google's own data about Google. For who ChatGPT and Perplexity cite instead of you, use the manual AI visibility check on this blog; it is the same idea with a different export.
