Best Free On-Page SEO Checkers in 2026: 9 Tools Compared

The best free on-page SEO checkers in 2026 are Seobility, Sitechecker, Yoast, DebugBear and the Mavek On-Page SEO Checker for a one-page check with no signup, and Semrush Site Audit when you need a free full-site crawl. Seobility gives the longest report (200+ factors, 5 checks a day), Sitechecker the broadest single-page coverage, and Mavek the only AI answer readiness checks in this list. Every limit and price below was checked on the vendor's own page on 5 Oct 2026.

How was this list built?

This list was built from the pages Google ranks and cites. On 5 Oct 2026 we pulled the US top 10 and the AI Overview for 5 queries (on page seo checker, onpage seo checker, on page seo audit, on page seo analyzer, free on page seo audit) through DataForSEO. The tools the AI Overview cited most often, Seobility, Wincher, Yoast, Sitechecker and DebugBear, are all here, plus Semrush, SEO Site Checkup and Rank Math from the organic results.

Every limit and price was read on the vendor's own page that day. Where a page did not state something, the table says so instead of guessing. SEOptimer ranks for these queries too, but its pages returned a bot check on 5 Oct 2026, so we could not verify it and left it out. One disclosure: we build Mavek, so weigh that. It is listed first because it is ours.

1. Mavek On-Page SEO Checker

What it is: a free single-page checker that scores 14 on-page signals out of 100 (title, meta description, canonical, robots, viewport, H1, heading hierarchy, alt text, links, JSON-LD, Open Graph, lang) and reports 5 AI answer readiness checks next to the score.

Free limits: no signup and 20 URL checks a day. Pasted HTML is checked in your browser and never leaves your device.

Where it shines: the AI Answer Readiness section, built on Kevin Indig's analysis of 18,012 ChatGPT citations, and the paste-HTML option for staging pages. Try the on-page SEO checker.

Where it falls short: no page speed or Core Web Vitals, no keyword targeting, and one URL at a time. For page speed use the PageSpeed checker; for the whole site, the free SEO and AEO audit on Mavek's 14-day trial.

2. Seobility SEO Checker

What it is: a one-page checker that grades "over 200 SEO-relevant factors", including meta titles and descriptions, canonical links, H1 and heading hierarchy, alt attributes and server response time.

Free limits: 5 checks a day with no signup. The free plan adds 1 project with 100 pages per crawl and 3 tracked AI prompts.

Where it shines: the most detailed free single-page report in this list, plus a genuinely useful free crawl for small sites.

Paid: Premium at €59.90 a month (€575.04 a year).

3. Sitechecker

What it is: an on-page checker that returns a report "in 2 seconds without required signup", covering titles, meta descriptions, H1 to H6, alt text, canonical, Open Graph and PageSpeed lab metrics (LCP, TBT, CLS) on mobile and desktop.

Where it shines: the broadest free one-page coverage we could verify, with speed and on-page checks in one report.

Paid: plans are on Sitechecker's account plans page; the price shown to us was geolocated, so check it from your own country. AI visibility tracking is a separate paid tracker.

4. Yoast SEO Checker

What it is: a free health check from the team behind the Yoast WordPress plugin. It covers titles, meta descriptions, headings, internal links, alt text, HTTPS, canonicals, sitemap, robots.txt, broken links and missing schema, and "you don't need to share your email address".

Where it shines: site-level basics (sitemap, robots.txt, broken links) that most one-page checkers skip, with no friction.

Paid: Yoast SEO Premium at $118.80 a year, excluding VAT.

5. DebugBear Website SEO Checker

What it is: a free checker from a performance monitoring company. It checks titles (including truncation), meta descriptions, heading structure, alt text, canonical and Open Graph, and adds AI agent readiness checks: llms.txt validation, the accessibility tree and WebMCP commands.

Where it shines: performance-minded teams, and anyone who wants agent readiness checks next to classic SEO.

Paid: monitoring starts at $99 a month on the Startup plan, billed yearly, with a 14-day free trial.

6. Wincher On-Page SEO Checker

What it is: a checker that scores one URL against one target keyword: title (with a 600px width note), H1 and H2, word count and keyword mentions, meta description, alt text, URL and HTTPS.

Where it shines: keyword-specific scoring, which the other free tools here do not do.

Paid: Wincher's pricing page names Starter, Professional and Agency plans, but no price rendered for us on 5 Oct 2026.

7. SEO Site Checkup

What it is: a long-running checker that runs "70+ checks per page", including meta tags, schema markup and speed.

Free limits: 1 check a day without signup; a free signup unlocks more checks. There is no free plan beyond that.

Where it shines: paid tiers add AI citation tracking across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot and Google AI Overviews.

Paid: Basic at $39 a month, or $29 a month billed yearly.

8. Semrush Site Audit

What it is: a full-site crawler that runs "over 140 on-page and technical SEO checks", with an AI Search category. A separate free SEO checker on the same page allows one check a day.

Free limits: a free account crawls 100 pages a month, 100 per audit, 1 project.

Where it shines: the only real full-site crawl in this list on a free account.

Paid: the SEO plan is $139 a month ($117.33 a month billed yearly). More in Mavek vs Semrush.

9. Rank Math SEO Analyzer

What it is: a free web analyzer from the makers of the Rank Math WordPress plugin, tied to the plugin's SEO Analysis tests (titles, meta, H1 and H2, alt text, canonical, Open Graph, schema).

Where it shines: WordPress sites, because the fixes happen inside the free plugin. Rank Math's knowledge base does not say whether the web tool runs every plugin test, so treat the list as a guide.

Paid: Rank Math PRO at €7.99 a month, billed yearly, excluding VAT.

How do the 9 free on-page SEO checkers compare?

The 9 free on-page SEO checkers differ most on limits and extras, not on the basics: all of them check titles, meta descriptions and headings. Prices as shown on 5 Oct 2026.

Do the pages ranking for "on-page SEO checker" pass their own checks?

Most of the pages ranking for "on-page SEO checker" miss at least one basic they check for. We ran the Mavek checker's rules on the 25 tool and guide pages we could fetch from the US top 10 on 5 Oct 2026. 79% of pages with images had at least one image without alt text, 32% had no structured data, and only 20% wrote half their H2s as questions.

Bar chart of 25 pages ranking for on-page SEO checker queries on 5 Oct 2026: 56% have Organization schema, 32% have FAQPage schema, 32% have no structured data, 32% have titles over 60 characters, 20% write half their H2s as questions, 79% have at least one image missing alt text
Mavek study, 5 Oct 2026. Full data table on the on-page SEO checker page.

The lesson is not that these tools are wrong. A checker's rules are best practices, and a warning is a fix to weigh, not a ranking verdict.

"Your site can do perfectly fine with no h1 tags or with five h1 tags."

John Mueller, Google Search Relations, via Search Engine Roundtable

How do you choose a free on-page SEO checker?

Choose a free on-page SEO checker by the job you need done:

  • Most complete one-page report: Seobility or Sitechecker.
  • One page against one keyword: Wincher.
  • WordPress: Yoast or Rank Math.
  • Speed matters: DebugBear.
  • Can ChatGPT and AI Overviews quote the page: Mavek.
  • More than one URL: Semrush Site Audit.

For AI search, the on-page basics still decide most of it. Kevin Indig's Growth Memo study of 18,012 ChatGPT citations found 44.2% came from the first 30% of a page, so a checker that flags a slow opening is worth more than one that only counts characters.

"Meeting the technical requirements covers you for search generally, including AI formats."

John Mueller, Google Search Relations, Google Search Central blog, May 2025

Frequently asked questions

What is the best free on-page SEO checker?

For a one-page check with no signup, Seobility gives the longest report (200+ factors, 5 checks a day), Sitechecker the broadest coverage including PageSpeed, and the Mavek On-Page SEO Checker the only AI answer readiness checks in this list. For a free full-site crawl, Semrush Site Audit covers 100 pages a month on a free account.

Is there a completely free on-page SEO checker with no signup?

Yes. Seobility, Sitechecker, Yoast, DebugBear and the Mavek On-Page SEO Checker all ran a one-page check without an account when we checked on 5 Oct 2026. SEO Site Checkup allows 1 check a day logged out.

Do free on-page SEO checkers check AI search readiness?

A few do, in different ways. The Mavek checker reports question-format H2s, a direct opening answer, FAQPage and Organization schema and a named author. DebugBear checks AI agent readiness such as llms.txt and the accessibility tree. Semrush Site Audit has an AI Search category, and Seobility and SEO Site Checkup sell AI prompt tracking on paid plans.

Can a free on-page SEO checker replace a full SEO audit?

No. A one-page checker grades the HTML of one URL. A full audit crawls the whole site for problems a single page cannot show: broken internal links, duplicate titles across templates, crawl and indexing errors, and whether AI engines name your brand. Free checkers are the right tool while writing or editing one page.

Why does a page with warnings still rank?

Because checker rules are best practices, not Google rules. In our 5 Oct 2026 sample, 3 of the 25 pages ranking for on-page SEO checker queries did not have exactly one H1, and Google's John Mueller has said a site can do fine with no H1 or with five. Fix warnings in order of impact, not to chase a perfect score.

Checked one page? Check the whole site.

Mavek crawls your site, ranks the fixes and tracks whether ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and AI Overviews name you, with a real marketer reviewing every step.
