AI SEO that does the work, not just the reporting.
Most tools sold as AI SEO hand you a dashboard and a to-do list. The interesting question is which parts of search work AI can genuinely finish on its own, which parts it cannot, and what happens to a site that gets that line wrong.
What AI SEO means
AI SEO is the use of AI systems to carry out search engine optimization work: crawling and auditing a site, researching and clustering keywords, drafting briefs and articles, publishing pages, and tracking rankings across markets. It differs from traditional SEO tooling in one respect that matters, which is whether the software reports the problem or fixes it.
That distinction is worth holding onto, because almost every product in this category has added the words to its homepage. A rank tracker with a summary written by a language model is a rank tracker. The test is simple: at the end of the run, did a page get written, changed, or shipped, or did you get a longer list of things to do yourself?
Seven jobs AI can actually finish today
Every item below is a capability that runs in Mavek now. Nothing on this list is a roadmap entry.
Technical crawls and page audits
Mavek crawls your site or your sitemap, audits pages one by one, and checks robots directives. It reports what is broken, what is blocked, and what is quietly bleeding rankings: redirect chains, missing canonicals, thin pages, orphaned URLs, unreachable sections.
Keyword research, expansion and clustering
Start with one seed term. Mavek expands it into the full query set, clusters those queries into topics that deserve their own page, and tells you which cluster is worth building first based on volume and difficulty.
Competitor keyword gaps
Point Mavek at a competitor and it returns the queries they rank for and you do not. This is the fastest way to find the pages your category expects you to have written and you never did.
Content briefs
Mavek turns a target query into a brief: the intent behind the search, the sections the page needs, the entities to cover, and the internal links it should carry. A writer, human or otherwise, starts from a real plan instead of a blank page.
Article drafting
The brief becomes a publish-ready draft. Structured for extraction, written to the brief rather than to a word count, and shaped so an answer engine can quote a single paragraph without losing the meaning.
Publishing to WordPress
Mavek connects to WordPress and creates drafts, updates existing posts, or publishes outright. The loop from query to live page closes without a copy-paste step in the middle.
Daily rank tracking
Track keywords across ten markets, mobile and desktop separately, checked daily. Mavek surfaces the movers rather than making you read a table: what rose, what fell, and which page is responsible.
Four things AI SEO cannot do for you
Any vendor who skips this section is selling you the demo, not the outcome.
It cannot manufacture authority
Links, mentions, and reputation still come from people deciding you are worth citing. No model produces that. AI shortens the time from decision to published asset, which means you can earn authority faster, but it does not skip the earning.
It cannot know your business
Pricing logic, what you refuse to sell, why last quarter went the way it did: none of that is in the training data or the crawl. Positioning is still yours to decide. AI executes against it.
It cannot originate proof
Original data, customer results, and first-hand experience are exactly what both readers and answer engines reward, and they are the one input that has to come from your side of the table.
It should not run unsupervised
Automated publishing without review is how sites end up with a hundred pages that say nothing. Mavek gates the work behind approvals for that reason, and the useful setting is not maximum volume.
AI SEO, SEO automation and AEO are three different things
AI SEO
Using AI to do the work: research, briefs, drafts, technical fixes, publishing. The output is pages and changes.
SEO automation
Scheduled tasks against fixed rules: recurring crawls, rank alerts, monthly reports. The output is notifications.
Answer engine optimization
Getting cited inside AI answers rather than ranked in a list of links. A separate discipline with its own tactics. See how Mavek runs AEO.
The three overlap in practice, and a site can be strong at one and absent from another. Ranking first on Google is no guarantee ChatGPT will name you.
Three steps to a working loop
Connect Search Console and GA4
Read-only OAuth. Mavek reads your live query, page, and conversion data instead of guessing from third-party estimates.
Point it at a target
A seed keyword, a competitor domain, or your own sitemap. Mavek returns the cluster map, the gaps, and the priority order.
Approve and ship
Briefs and drafts arrive for review. You approve, Mavek publishes, and rank tracking picks up the page from the next day.

AI SEO, answered
What is AI SEO?
AI SEO is the use of AI systems to do search engine optimization work: crawling and auditing a site, researching and clustering keywords, writing briefs and drafts, publishing pages, and tracking rankings. The distinction that matters is between AI that reports (tells you what is wrong) and AI that executes (fixes it, writes the page, ships it). Most tools marketed as AI SEO belong to the first group.
Can AI actually do SEO, or does it just write content?
Content generation is the smallest part of it. The parts AI handles well are the ones that are high volume and rule-bound: crawling thousands of URLs, finding the queries a competitor ranks for and you do not, clustering a keyword set into topics, checking ranks across markets daily. Writing is the visible part, but the research and technical work is where the hours actually go.
What can AI SEO not do?
It cannot build authority for you. Links and mentions come from people choosing to cite you, and no model produces that decision. It also cannot decide your positioning, supply original data, or judge whether a claim about your business is true. Those four inputs stay human, and a site that automates everything else while ignoring them will publish a great deal and rank for nothing.
Is AI-generated content penalised by Google?
No. Google's guidance targets content produced primarily to manipulate rankings, regardless of how it was made. Helpful, accurate, original content is judged on its merits whether a human or a model drafted it. The practical risk is not the tool; it is publishing volume without review, which produces pages that say nothing and drag the whole domain's quality signal down with them.
What is the difference between AI SEO and SEO automation?
SEO automation usually means scheduled tasks against fixed rules: a weekly crawl, an alert when a rank drops, a report on the first of the month. AI SEO adds judgment to the loop, so the system decides which cluster to build, what the brief should contain, and which movement in the data is worth acting on. Automation repeats; AI decides and then repeats.
How is AI SEO different from AEO?
AI SEO is about using AI to do the work. Answer engine optimization (AEO) is about being the source AI answer engines quote when someone asks a question. They are separate ideas that are easy to confuse because both have AI in the name. You can run AI SEO tooling and still be invisible inside ChatGPT, and the fix for that is a different discipline.
See it run on your own site.
Crawl, cluster, brief, draft, publish, track. One platform, approvals at every gate.
