What is brand voice?
Brand voice is the consistent expression of your brand through words and communication style. It encompasses the tone, vocabulary, personality, and values that come through in every piece of content you create -- from website copy and emails to social media posts and customer support replies.
Think of brand voice as the written equivalent of a person's speaking style. Just as you can recognize a friend's voice on the phone, customers should be able to recognize your brand's voice in a blog post, an ad, or an email without seeing the logo. That consistency builds familiarity, and familiarity builds trust.
Brand voice is not the same as brand messaging. Messaging is what you say -- your value propositions, key benefits, and positioning. Voice is how you say it. Two companies can communicate the same message -- that their product saves time -- but one might say it with humor and irreverence while the other says it with data and authority. The voice is what makes each version distinct.
